Flanges are used to connect pipe sections to other pipe sections, and make it possible to attach other components or equipment. Using flange connections has a big advantage. The pipe sections can be assembled or disassembled without cutting or welding. Access to the pipe section after installation for maintenance is therefore much easier.

A flange connects to another flange through their facing. There are different facings available where the most common ones are: raised face (RF), flat face (FF), and ring type joint (RTJ). When making a joint with other flanges, there are three main products used: the flanges, the gasket, and the bolts. Those products join two flanges and will bring the final result of an acceptable leak tightness.

Most flanges also connect to the pipe section. There are different ways to obtain this connection, and therefore different flange types to choose from. The following flange types are available:

• Slip-On Flanges

• Lap Joint Flanges
